I hope y'all are settled in because this wedding was amazing in every single possible way. This New Years Eve wedding will go down in history for J. Sparks Photography; not only were Drea & Dyami the most relaxed couple ever but the amount of love, happiness and overall atmosphere of their wedding day and reception was overflowing. (And I edited their gallery in less than a week. *insert gasping emoji here* Because that seriously never happens.)
This was my last wedding for 2017, my first year in the business, and it really kicked it off with a bang and started my 2018 year the same way. I am so beyond grateful that I was able to hang out with them throughout one of the most special days of their lives. It's one that'll stick with me for sure! From the very beginning, I could tell that Drea and all of her bridesmaids were just the type of people I wanted to spend my day with. I literally stepped into the room and laughter and stories flowed.
Drea got ready with her ladies at the GORGEOUS St. Anthony's Hotel in Downtown San Antonio and it took my breath away. We captured Drea & Dyami seeing each other for the first time, a really amazing gift exchange, a father/daughter first look and some special images by the piano in the lobby of the hotel that holds a special place in her and her families hearts. (Her grandfather, who passed away recently, serviced the piano and Drea wanted to make sure we captured this special piece on her special day.)
From the St. Anthony's Hotel, Drea & Dyami had their wedding and reception at the Southwest School of Art which is a beautiful campus full of gorgeous white stone walls and pathways. Despite the temperature ranging between 28-40 degrees with winds ranging from 13-24 mph, Dyami & Drea along with their bridal party braved the cold for some outdoor portraits before the ceremony.
The ceremony was held inside the chapel and y'all I literally teared up while shooting this wedding. There were so many special moments that tugged on this pregnant mama's heartstrings. Dyami crying while seeing Drea walk down the aisle for the first time, their friends performing songs while the couple shared in special moments like prayer and communion. During the prayer, their parents came up and prayed over them and it was one of the most moving experiences. The two exchanged vows that they had written for one another and there was just so much emotion that took over the space.
And then the party started. First song came on and the dancefloor filled to the brim. They had a gorgeous cake accompanied by cupcakes and a donut wall (yeah you heard me right, A DONUT WALL!). I literally feel so lucky to be able to consider days like this as work days because I was celebrating right along with them and all of their loved ones.
Now onto the photos, because I know that's why you're all really here.
